yes ive heard the same report that july will continue to be unsettled. we are still on a hosepipe ban aswell here in essex lol it is all to do with the jetstream it hasnt moved north so is not allowing warm settled weather to get to the yk. problem is the weeks are flying past , we are about a month...

HERE IN ESSEX HAS BEEN VERY WET TOO but i cut a small 4 .5 acre field last sunday and baled it yesterday 411 bales ,it did get a downpoor on sat morn but the sun came out sat mid day and after turning it i decided it would go yesterday afternoon thank god. i did intend selling some hay to the horsey...

so at least i should get to the end of winter feeding the straw . we took on another 30 acres back end of last year from a local farmer who didnt seem to bothered with it ,a gentlemans agreement and rent in cash!! we have got a few extra cows in because we were going to hay and graze his bit of land...

yes the trouble i have living here in essex is its a very horsey area and any grass is bailed for horses and sold at premium rate. also mostly rape or wheat grown locally not much barley at all.i can get barley and oats and roll it but worried that gos against the grass fed cattle route. bit worried...

had a visit today from the VAT people very nice and very helpfull. they will let us register even though farming is not our main income and we will be known as rebateable buisness. this means that farming is almost all zero rated what we sell ie food etc and what we pay out normally has vat incurred...

yes i agree my real job is a heating engineer and sometimes i treat my good customers to a free bit of beef this in turn normally results in them buying some from me but yes i agree its not proffit making .

yes clive the thing between hobby and buisness is a very grey area . i bet if i make money ill have to pay income tax but because i want to claim back the vat it seems im not allowed. the only reason for going vat reg was it would make it all more viable to build into a buisness
