Dexter x limousin
Has anyone had any experience of using a limousin bull on Dexter cows? We are buying a limousin bull to use on our non Dexter cows and I'm not sure if to split the dexters and AI them with Angus semen which I nornally do. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi I hope every thing is going well?? We have fostered a couple of calves on to dexters with very good results. We did skin the dead calves to put on the adopted ones and also we spent alot of time standing with them but it did pay off. They were both angus calves and by the time they were six month...

Oh yes, I remember Dark Lane Angus at various shows, thought they weren't too big, at least back then. [edited] But just looked at their website and they look pretty big to me now! we are just in the process of deciding what bull to use on our cows and would like to use maybe an angus to produce a slightly bigger carcass. Has anyone had any experiance with using a different bull, any advice would be greatly received!!

Thanks - unfortunaley we have lost some grazing this time so I have to reduce numbers anyway so I am trying to not let my heart rule my head!! We also have a cow that is 9 this time who hasn't held, maybe we should send her as well???

3 yr old dexter for meat
Hi - we have a heifer that is 3 & has had 1 calf but failed to get in calf this time, I am thinking of having her killed for the freezer but not sure what the meat will be like?? Any advice would be helpful!!
