The people Ive spoken to will kill, gut and skin, supply chill cabinet on farm, come back in2 to 3 weeks and cut him up. for £200 to £225. I have to supply big bag for skin guts etc, and bags for meat.

Home killing

As it will be my first steer to be killed I was wondereing if anyone has any views or expieriances on getting someone in and killing the beast at home. I would think it could be less streesful for him,but are there any pitfalls.

Re: Sensible offers please

If you want to sell something put a price on the item and negotiations can follow. Simple.

Grading beef

Could anyone explain, in simple terms, the way beef is graded, as I know absolutly nothing about the letters and numbers.
Thanks. John.

Thanks every one for all your thoughts, and ideas. Calf and cow are really doing well now, and he is feeding on his own.

Re: Birth date

Had a bull calf 2pm yesterday. Had to have the vet out though as the cow was pushing and nothing happening, all that was showing was one foot. After the vet examined her he found the other foot was back on its self, so he straitened it out and we got to work with some calving ropes. Wow what a pull....
