The people Ive spoken to will kill, gut and skin, supply chill cabinet on farm, come back in2 to 3 weeks and cut him up. for £200 to £225. I have to supply big bag for skin guts etc, and bags for meat.

Home killing
As it will be my first steer to be killed I was wondereing if anyone has any views or expieriances on getting someone in and killing the beast at home. I would think it could be less streesful for him,but are there any pitfalls.

Could anyone explain, in simple terms, the way beef is graded, as I know absolutly nothing about the letters and numbers.

Had a bull calf 2pm yesterday. Had to have the vet out though as the cow was pushing and nothing happening, all that was showing was one foot. After the vet examined her he found the other foot was back on its self, so he straitened it out and we got to work with some calving ropes. Wow what a pull....

Hi Ann, she wasb A.Id. on the 19th June, and according to the Dexter calander she should have been due on the 28th March.

Thanks for that Saffy,her udder has been full for a couple of weeks now, so I know she cant be to long to calf.As its my first calving I think I am being too worried.
So really the dates can be way out sometimes then.

We had our cow A.Id. last year and all has been going fine.She was due to calf, according to dates last wednesday, and as I am new to all this I was wondering if Dexters tend to be on time or should I be panicking.

A feeder bucket from denis brisicombe which aids cows into season was mentioned.
