Re: shadwell prefix

Thank you for the photo.
However according to the Grassroots herdbook Shadwell Robert was not born until November 1965. I will check the herdbooks to confirm this.

Re: shadwell prefix

Cecil, my name is John O'Neill and I am a huge fan of the Shadwell herd. I have sent you a private message. My current bull is a son of Shadwell Robert. I am in Ireland and importing straws of Robert and producing this bull, in an effort to preserve this old blood line, took me years. When the Shadw...

Re: Interesting email

When the posting was removed I received the following email Hi John, i have for the only the second time in the lifetime of my site removed a post from the discussion board. I removed your FANGRA letter and response from the DCS. I feel the site is not the right place to raise personal issues like t...

Re: Council Resignation

Mike Sinnott was waiting for a response to his resignation from the DCS council but none came and he has now asked me to post his resignation letter here . Chairman and Council, I find myself unable to continue as a trustee of the Dexter Cattle Society. This is due to a prolonged period of inadequat...

Re: Council Resignation

Dear chairman, I refer to your email of the 10th May in which you claim that I am either an incompetent fool or I attempted to mislead the Council for my own gain. Your email states: This therefore raises the question are John and Mike incompetent and fools ( which is not an opinion I have of them )...

Re: First return of Dexters to Ireland

Here are photographs of two more red kerries. Apologies for the quality of the calf photo. I will get better ones later in the year. Like the cows the calf is ruby red with black skin. The black hairs have not appeared yet but I expect them to in the next couple of months. The red calf is not from t...

Re: First return of Dexters to Ireland

Louisa, thank you for dealing with the Zebu issue. Here is a link to the article, on the North Carolina State University website, reproduced by the Simmental society. It explains complete homozygous polledness ( true polled ) and its alternatives very well indeed. http://www.cals.ncsu.edu/an_sci/ext...

Re: First return of Dexters to Ireland

Kathleen, apologies for the delay in responding. I was waiting to get some photos of red Kerry cattle. The two below are samples. I will open a new thread on colour shortly and post more photos. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l571/joneill0/DSCN5279-1.jpg http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l571...

Re: First return of Dexters to Ireland

Kathleen, Here is a picture of a red kerry calf. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l571/joneill0/kerryred2.jpg I am informed by the breeder that this cow had three red calves to two different bulls. While red kerries are no longer common they still occur. My information is that red calves were put...

Re: First return of Dexters to Ireland

A couple of corrections to my postings on this thread. It was Moomin Nancy's firsts two calves, both to Moomin Izzatt, which were brown with black points rather that Moomin Nancy herself. Moomin Macduff was 118cm (46.5 inches) rather than 48 inches. This link has a photo and stats http://www.kapf-sg...

Re: First return of Dexters to Ireland

I believe it was between 38 and 42 inches at the rump for cows and between 40 and 46 inches for bulls. The maximum height was increased by 2 inches for both sexes and the minimum height for bulls was raised by 2 inches. Does anyone know how these changes were communicated to the membership? I can no...

Re: First return of Dexters to Ireland

Ian neither “You are attempting to mislead by suggesting that Council now or in the past need to waste Society income by paying legal fees on what is clearly stated in our constitution. When you joined the Society you agreed to be governed by the Constitution which included the Breed Standard as it ...

Jac,
sorry but you need to ask the society for a copy. Although I beleive it should be available to all members it is not mine to publish.

Re: First return of Dexters to Ireland

Ian, you did not answer the question but based on your response I suspect the society believes, as do I and alot of other people, that the modifications were not legal within UK law even if they were within the rules of the society. A consultation process needs to be gone through, in public, at the ...

Re: First return of Dexters to Ireland

Ian, if I am understanding you correctly the effect of this resolution would be to prohibit future modifications to the breed standard without consultation. You say that currently the Council is responsible for approval and alteration of the breed standard without the need to discuss or seek approva...
