I have only just seen all this and regretably couldn't attend the meeting. I've looked on the DCS website and I can't find anything about what happend--am I looking in the wrong spot? I'm probably missing the obvious but it seems that the only information I can get is on this website. Delighted tha...

Inger, Thanks for this but I still love the way the horn goes from grey to white as they get older. The cows I have --at at this point I touch wood--seem to take extra care when they barge a calf etc out of the way--they do have a lot of space though--the only thing that I have noticed is that they...

Beryl, The point I make about "stand or don't stand" I think is still valid. We currently have a society that probably in reality isn't divided but when it comes to A/EGm's cannot pass changes. The only way for this to change is to have elections that are plain and simple, no pre ordained...

Malc, I agree with your comments in the main; I am always suspicious if someone tells me that this must be done because it is the law-------it could be the case but it normally means something else--in this case probably not but I don't knoe. 1. I would much prefer postal to proxy---I would say tha...

I use a programme called "FARMIT" produced by a sister organisation to Graig Farm organics--works very well for sheep and cattle. constant upgrades (free), helpline, and simple to use-----no I don't have shares in the company. It has made my record keeping so much simpler--they also have ...

Many thanks for all your comments, mine is a closed herd and i really like the look of the cows with horns but I do take all your other points to heart. I do though find myself being extra attentive to horned animals than to unhorned ones. They are not fully housed in winter but can go in and out a...

Having organic dexters with horns I understand the safety aspect of polling but I have decided not to remove the horns. I feel that the animals are happier with what nature gave them rather than me chopping off something for my safety. Is there anything in the "rules" that says what a dex...

Sylvia, sorry you have had such a bad time--and there but for fate go all of us!! The market for dexters has to be a small one and because of that it has to be niche. I've gone down the organic route for the whole farm and this works to a certain extent but getting organic certified abattoirs, butc...

Saffy what wonderful pictures, I've always considered Dexters to be Cows with "attitude" and your last picture shows it. Penny you're comments are absolutely accurate--I almost want to say "stuff the society I just want to keep Dexters!!" Anyway just about to calve 4 in next few...

This subject is now totaly boring, all the internal politics slander and bickering are in grave danger of driving all sensible people away from the society. What a shame, I'm sure everybody means well but the whole thing has been going on far too long and the arguments are getting so involved that ...
