You are very lucky to have the choice of changing your vet. Living out in the sticks a we do, we have a choice of one. Due to the rural nature of where we live, touch wood, our practice is most unlikely to turn its back on farm work.

I had an interesting chat with a friend on the telephone the other night. He sells interesting countryside artifacts at about half a dozen antique fairs each year. He was telling me about some horn trainers that he'd aquired. There were two metal tips that fitted over the ends of each horn with wir...

Hopefully I will be purchasing dexters again within the next twelve months or just as soon as we have managed to relocate. I fully intend to use the facility that this forum offers, inorder to do so but I would make two requests from the vendors on here. One I've mentioned before on a previous occa...

No Sylvia, we're too old for that now, although about fifteen years ago we were all set for a move there. My wife had got a physio job lined up but the sale of our place here fell through. We've often thought what might have been, my youngest could have played cricket for NZ and been an All Black :...

I sold my last three dexters today and they left our holding at about 3.00pm for a new home in Herefordshire. I was sad to see them go but consoled myself that I will hopefully restock later in the year or early next year when we have relocated.

I just have the three Dexters at the moment, along with two freezers that are full to the brim with beef and pork. Now that our strapping sons are off at university, we find ourselves eating beef virtually everyday to try and make inroads into it. I have a dexter cow and her two entire sons. One wi...

They are almost a half way house between a duck and goose. Their eggs take longer to hatch ordinary ducks and if they interbreed with them, then their progeny are sterile mules.

Questions! Are those natural casings? Do you not add any water? How long do they have to dry? That's some fancy equipment! I use the grinder/sausage attachment for my Kitchen Aid (and it's not the big one!). Kathy They are natural casings. We buy them salted and then soak them prior to use. You can...

Here's another one we do regularly. I used chopped cold Dexter beef from yesterdays beef joint. I suppose it counts as a bit of a stir fry. You need 8 oz of already cooked cold beef cubed. 4 oz chopped fresh mushrooms Small onion. Peeled and chopped fairly finely. Soy sauce Lea and Perrins sauce En...

is ? We are going to make ten pounds of Dexter Beef sausage tonight. As long as my OH doesn't put a greasy thumb on the lense, there's going to be a rough guide as to what we do, along with compulsory photographs. We kicked in with about 8lb of Dexter stewing beef and just over 2lb of boned belly p...

Its going to come at a high cost, but to do nothing could come at an even higher expense.

Paint them regularly with the castor oil and the wart will turn to a soggy paste and simply slough off.

I didn't believe the guy when he first told me about this but it does work.
