I took a 5 yr old cow in yesterday because she developed a prolapse and the vet couldn't fix it. I rang this morning and was told she weighed 255 Kg DW but they will probably only offer £300 which I think is a bit of an insult. He said he will have a look at the carcass and ring back. If I had room...

I saw an edifying but deeply disturbing programme on BBC2 last night where the chief vet on the RSPCA described some of the dogs at crufts as mutants because of the strict adherance to cosmetic breed standards. It has resulted in the most grotesque deformities of some breeds of dogs, causing pain a...

What a terrible shame to turn shin and brisket into ""plain" jerky is comparatively salty and lacking in flavour" when it can make the most delicious stew. My particular favorite is goulash which rivals if not beats the flavour of the sirloin. I can understand drying the meat in...

I am thinking of selling, amongst others, a pregnant cow. and would need to deliver her about 30 miles in my livestock trailer. She is due to calf in 4 weeks. Mrs T says "it's too late, Youll have to wait" What does the team think?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

I don't suppose Dominic deliberately chose to annoy you; I think therefore only one angry face was warranted.

Caroline, Any articles at any time would be welcomed by me for inclusion in the South east group newsletter. Although we have had some brilliant contributions in the past, some of which are reproduced in the main Society bulletin, at other times I struggle and it seems to be the Lusty/Taylor times ...
