Saddly this last episode of Snow and ice has meant that for the second year running it has been very difficult to get to the dexters and keep them supplied with water. The trough has been freezing solid for days on end and the hills between us and the field have been leathal to get the landrover ov...

If it is any help the IAE dexter crush is now called a yearling crush and ours is brilliant. Very easy to use and as Tim does, we use sheep hurdles to funnel them in.

Di and Roger, all your cows look lovely. Not much good at judging them I am afraid but they all look nice to me.
Our steer turned out to be dead weight of 177.4kg and grade O4L.
Just have to wait for the beef now :D .

Thank you for the pics of your steer Stephanie, he looks lovely. The grass belly on our steer seems to vary from day to day and makes it hard guessing the size of the rest of him. Clive that is a good idea to guess the grade, I wouldn't know where to start I am afraid but can ask the abattoir when ...

Thank you Stephanie, I thought it might be odd just putting the four up but they are all that I have and where as I am aware that none of them are show stoppers, any excuse to waste time taking pictures of them is used :D . They are all very placid and easy to handle which is one of my top prioriti...

My little cow is in now on the yard with her offspring as the field is way too wet for them. They are very content and the last few days the gate was open the cow didn't go out very much as she doesn't like getting her feet wet at the best of times so when you provide hay so she doesn't have to she...

Good news Di,
We buy straws from the dexter society for £9 each (two at a time) and pay genus £20 for each service and £6.40 per month storage.
