my three year old cow calved last saturday with a niece little heiffer.the thing is the other two incalf cows were bullying her so i moved them into another field .both the cow and the bull i have, have to be retested (IRs) next week for TB. i dont want her straight back in calf .what do you think ...

we have run short of our own beef ,have not got a dexter ready for a while, but have a 16 month old a/a hereford cross who looks quite good in fact she is the same size as my 3 year old dexter any idea what the beef should be like at this age or should we wait??

i gave my cattle their BT injections six days before one of my cows gave birth,will the calf have immunity ?the second injection is due in 13 days time ,obviously the calf will only be two weeks old then ,too young to inject and i don't want to buy another bottle of vaccine .any ideas ? tim z

the horn bud area looked much better today,as suggested could have been the vaseline .i did spray with purple antisceptic spray this morning anyway.flies are everywhere ,how old should cattle be before you can use fly repelents?

hi rob,this is the third or forth type of grass seed i have tried i can't remember it's name or mix ,but i have told the different suppliers each time the terrain and type of land where it was to be sown (cost me a fortune in seed),it has all been sown by hand as this area is one side of a valley ,...

i have got 18 shetland sheep aswell as the dexters ,when i move the cattle to the other area i'm strip grazing ,i can let the sheep in to the wooded area .there are blue bells in flower in there and i have been told that sheep should not be allowed to eat them so i will wait till they die back befo...

i spoke to my vet this morning and they have not been issued any vaccine yet and at this time are only taking "orders" for vaccine .i only have 12 cattle and 18 sheep ,so i might have a go myself when it becomes available. thanks for all the replies . tim z

i have a wooded area of about an acre which i have been trying to grass for three years ,this year the seed from this march has taken.the grass is now about nine inches tall.seeing it's been difficult to get the grass to take i don't want te cattle to kill it. should i let them in or should i wait ...

just read on www.fwi.co.uk that a licence as been passed for u.k. .some details are given for dosage and that it will be injected ,but no mention of cost .

thanks for your comments,i think if i can pursuade my wife we will let her go when i take my two young boars which will be going to the abatoir in august.we have a year old gilt who will hopefully be more productive ,but it's hard to see old "friends" go.tim z :(
