Unfortunately we lost our big girl but the others (fingers crossed!) seem to be holding their own. Loads ...

It is a bit of a chore sometimes but I found that my Dexters would not properly let milk down if they remembered their calf, not my imagination, I use a machine! Anyway it was/is also important for me to keep milking records. Anyway, the lit...

Four years ago when we researched what kind of cow would suit our little farm, both my husband and I decided on Dexters. This was based on reading everything available to us via the internet, mainly. Every Dexter Association, wordwide talks about their 'compact' dual purpose even 'tri-' as oxen. Al...

Hi Kathy: I think that you have to stop rewarding her with treats. I did that once from my hand with goats and they got so aggressive that they would knock me over looking for treats. I reward my heifer with her meal of grain in her baler while I brush her, after her daily leading session. She enjo...

Not a wet blanket certainly Duncan. I was kind of afraid you were going to start in on me about 'the physiology of the cow' :;): Meaning it could never work! I maybe have hope. I mean think of horses...you wouldn't have to be spot on to see if there was a relationship. Even scientists use 'anecdota...

Has anyone ever recorded the length of the cannon bone at birth through maturity to see if there was any correlation to the mature height. I don't have any new borns but I did check my 7 mo old heifer, who I am...
