I believe a couple of years ago the people I've listed were trying to import some Dexters from the UK. There was some export/import complications and so I'm not sure if the Dexters ever made it to France. They might be someone that you could contact for information: Fiona and Alan Foster of Etang F...

OK, so I want to measure my Dexters. I now know that I measure at the hip (not the withers!). Does anyone have a design for a homemade measuring stick? I have in mind two "sticks" at right angles to each other and the one is marked off in inches/cm. and the other slides up and down. Can't...

Here in the states the PDCA Genetics Committee Chair recommended that we adopt the common clinical terminology to describe the three types of Dexters. Specifically, Severely Affected (bulldog), Affected (carrier) and Normal (non-carrier). This will give appropriate terms to describe the phenotype (...

Ann, I believe that the original plan here in the States for the Congress would have been for a conservation theme this time. The delicate balance of conservancy breeding and production breeding would have certainly been applicable and timely to Dexters. Hosting these events takes a lot of commitme...

There are a lot of causes for arthritis and saying "all" short legs will get it is overstated. It would seem logical that the short leg would be more susceptible. Much in the same way as a dachshund.

Andy,

Yes, there are now two separate registries. With regards to the PDCA, ADCA animals registered prior to 7/17/04 are allowed for registration in the PDCA. ADCA animals registered after 7/17/04 would be evaluated on an animal per animal basis before allowance into the PDCA registry.
