Re: Is it the end?

Just a line to thank Mark and attest the benefits of his livestock sales page. Deposit taken on a bull after just a couple days on the site.

Re: Is it the end?

I think it would be a shame if the discussion board was discontinued. I agree that folk are not posting on it as much as they used to but I am not sure it is all to do with facebook - perhaps just a general malaise that seems to be affecting Dexter breeders with the change of direction that has take...

Re: Payment for transfer of ownership

I think that is all well and good if you are making a profit giving to charity is a good thing but when every animal sold is produced at a loss then one has to think long and hard about it.

Re: Payment for transfer of ownership

Of the cattle I have owned and bred in almost 20 years, three quarters of them have been purchased by non-members who have not gone on to join the Society. If this trend is widespread then I can see our herd book getting into a mess.

Re: Payment for transfer of ownership

? How can you be billed Stephanie doing a herd return? I do agree with Debra that you can't go passing people's names and addresses to third parties without their permission if they don't want anything to do with the Society.

Re: Payment for transfer of ownership

I first became aware of the situation when I registered a heifer at the beginning of December 18 and no, I have no recollection of receiving any letter. There was a discussion about it on the closed Dexter facebook page that Duncan started (post event).

Re: Payment for transfer of ownership

My understanding of the situation was that the breeder/present owner no longer has any right to the pedigree certificate and that when the animal is sold the pedigree certificate must be returned to the office. It is for the new owner to pay the transfer fee to get the animal transferred and the ped...

Taking advantage of good weather, doing half and half - out during day and in at night. How wonderful it is with less work clearing buildings three times a day.

Yes, I too was surprised to hear the news as he seemed to be much better when I saw him last. My thoughts go out to Carol and family at this difficult time.

Re: Cattle Prices

Would they not be ready to kill at 24 months so no onward feeding needed? I have been asked to pay £750 when short of beef so £400 is a steal (assuming they are good to go).

Re: The Long Hot Summer

Have been reading about the dreadful situation in many parts of the country with the abnormally dry weather but have been very fortunate here with an abundance of underground springs to keep the grass growing all through the summer. The cattle have just been bought in – something unheard of in norma...

Re: Proxy Voting.

Perhaps you should contact the office for advice? In the event that the office confirm that there is no postal vote, since I am going to the AGM if you (or any other member) have need of a proxy I am willing do so but I would prefer that you make your own decisions on the voting paper but as per Di'...
